I always put off a tour of the DMZ because of drunken wekends. Always figured I would get to it later. I regret not having seen that. Also never got to the Korean folk village.

Have you been to any of the numerous random islands off the coast of Korea, Jejudo excluded?

I think those were the neatest things I did and saw outside of Seoul. In Seoul, the Palace Museum near Kyongbokgung is really cool if it is still open and I'm really happy I had a chance to go and see 'Nanta' and a performance at the Jeongdong Theater.

Check out this page for festival ideas because those are often good things to do on the weekend with fun stuff to see:

NANTA is good. It is a percussion performance using common items found in the kitchen for instruments. There is usually a storyline to the performance, but it is the music that is kickin'. Look for the theater near Seodaemun.

have you visited girum (miari texas) yet? it's in the northern part of seoul. it's the aircraft carrier of whorehouses. i don't know how to describe it any other way. you must see this place simply to tell your friends:

"i went to this shady area of town where you walk along these dark, narrow alleyways inhabited by wrinkled, furtive ajumas who sit on stools and direct you towards their "wares". if you follow the ajumas boney finger, it will lead you to a small room with 4 or so girls who will be dressed as a)hookers b)brides c)flight attendants..."
