It's a long story but I needed knee surgery and Chuseok seemed to be the right time to get it done. Mainly becuase it's one of the few days that I get off of work. So I selected the biggest hospital in my area and checked myself in. There are a few things about hospitals here that I've come to notice. For instance the lack of curtains deviding the beds within a room. My hospital room has seven beds but no curtains deviding them. This leads to my second point of the lack of privacy. Honestly I was hoping to play the foriegner card to the hilt on this and hoped that my North America looks would scare the crap out of people who are afraid to get swine flu therefore making them crack and get a room all to myself. Hmmm...that didn't happen which lead to the privacy problem. I'm placed between two old men who act like eight year olds.
I get out Monday, and honestly it couldn't come soon enough. God I couldn't tell you how much I want to tell off these old ModEdit. |

the biggest = worst...
they have lots of private surgeons in korea, who actually have private rooms for their patients... a little more expensive but for the price and service it's worth it... you get a room all to yourslef, with a bathroom, refrigerator and TV... it's like 50,000 extra on your medical. |

I had a room with some old guys one time and they seemed pretty shocked that the guy who came in worried, in pain, and alone had so many young ladies visiting the room over the next few days. I was practically showered with get well cards and gifts and had all this "Apagetda" and "Kwenchanayo?" going on. The guys were also quite friendly as it was, and I spoke some Korean with them. It was quite an experience. |

For in the future, Severence is good, as it is the main english hospital in Seoul. When my bf was in there for 2 weeks (a bad, bad time.. ) he had a shared room with 6 adoshis for a good chunk of it, but there were curtains separating it all. It wasn't too bad, really. And being able to understand what the doctor tells you... priceless. |
