About two years ago, I received an email from this Scott Bug guy aka King Baeksu aka Scott Burgeson, asking for peeps to submit stories about the freakiest waygooks they knew. . . his goal was to essentially portray foreigners in a more positive light, so with that in mind I banged a couple out and promptly forgot about the whole affair.
I was surprised then to get this link in an email:

Looks like a great book, it's in Korean, and so far I've been getting some interesting reactions to this video from my Korean friends, coworkers, and family. Anyone else? Pass it along to the Koreans you know and post up what they say! |

That was so funny!!!
I have some questions:
1. What was that first video with him drinking from the cup from that thing on the street??
2. What was impolite about the way he drank the soju? |

He was drinking coffee like Koreans do and he was drinking the wine like Koreans do. I think they were just playing around with things. Maybe he wasn't drinking the wine one hundred percent as Koreans do and maybe he would be told by a Korean that he was doing it the wrong way. With the coffee, he was just showing how Koreans do it and not necessarily saying that Koreans would say it is was in an impolite way.
Don't you get it? Hmm. |

| Maybe I don't get it. I thought the dancing was 'impolite' because he had his shoes on in the house and the tea was 'impolite' because he was slurping it down with a straw? |

The soju segment is impolite due to the way he's pouring it, to the outside . . . considered an insult |

Also (1) He's pouring his own and (2) If you're pouring your own it's stupid to be respectful about it. It's like adding 'nim' to your job title when talking about yourself; you shouldn't be honorific towards yourself. It's pompous. |

Interesting~ When I was a teacher and people asked what my job was, I either said "Seongsangnim" or "Gyosunim"
Was I wrong? |
