Hey guys...what are the possibilties?

I have a friend who wants to come to Korea and bring his girlfriend. He wants to teach...she doesn't (and she will have a TEFL but no degree)

Can he bring and support her or is this just a big no no?

Cheers
James

she can come on a tourist visa but she wont be able to teach (legally) without a degree. There is the the GEPIK TALK program if she has 2 years of Uni education though....(not 100% sure if HND is acceptable)

Assuming she`s from the UK also, she can stay 3 months at a time maximum as a tourist.

to extend her tourist visa for another 3 months, most certainly. I suppose if she`s coming and going out very often immigration might raise a question or two......but generally she should be fine.

I am certain that if they are not married, they will break up. No one wants to support someone else. Korea isn't that cheap and to support 2 on one income isn't easy. Not to mention that she will go stir crazy. Unless she can do something to keep busy.

I know of one woman who is a teacher, but her bf stays home. He does Web Design. They do alright but he is occupied.

I don't ever recommend anyone come over to teach if they can not do it legally. Yes, there are people that do it, and 10 years ago it was quite common, but with restrictions being tighter, I wouldn't risk it.

What crap!

It is possible to support a non-working partner here in korea. The costs are manageable. You won't save much but you will have fun.

It requires a visa run contingent on the visa requirements of the person involved, but this is not difficult as most people can do overseas holidays at decent intervals.
