|
|
I've burnt my boats at the moment with referees/references because they have either done enough in the past or moved on to another place. How is the best way to get another reference? I even thought of making a little "group" to help out at such times. It's stupid when references stop you moving forward with a job application especially just because time has passed and stuff.
Anyone else been in a similar position? |

The best thing to do is have them write you a letter with their signature on company letterhead.
Then scan it.
All finished. |

That's easy if they accept open references but this institution want actual names addresses and contact details of the referee to contact themselves.
So, how to get out of this one? |

| Why am I not surprised that Martinpil is having trouble finding references? |

I'm thinking of getting written references from Korean employers, next year. I haven't worked in Australia since 2002. (Uni 2003, 04, 05). My old employers in Oz were not keen to repeat the same references they did for me in 2006 & 2007. And the immediate supervisor I once had is now a project manager in another Government Dept.
Nor will Epik, Gepik et al release the original references I've already given them, if I want to apply to say SMOE or BMOE or a Korean University next year. |

If only you knew BM! Bigheads aside, I've had good references from employers but I don't really want to use the typical "my mate" written tefl references that most people in tefl use. I may have to though on this occasion if I want this particular post (it's a real HE institution BM in the middle east, not some hagwon some school leaver from even a USA high school could get a job at...and yes there is a difference...and yes I should be able to get a good reference from the same referees but they've moved on.
So, any ideas what to do? Maybe BM (should be BH lol) can give me a sparkling ref. |

| Nope. No sparkling references from me. If you, a supposed teacher, could write a coherent sentence I might think about it. |

Have you guys gotten references from Korean coteachers? I mean they work with you right? If someone is a judge of character and working ability wouldn't they count?
I was thinking about getting a letter and signature from my main co teachers and manager, and maybe principals. |

| My Korean coteacher from my 1st contract gave me a good verbal reference over the phone to my current school. I was thinking of perhaps getting it in writting? Not sure if this is acceptable to Korean Immigration? |

| What does immigration have to do with references? I figure get a Korean coteacher or employer to write something and sign it, and it's good as gold. Also get all of their contact information for future use. That's what I am doing. |

If I understand correctly the job in question is in the Middle East.
