I just can't figure it out. I run bittorrent pretty much all the time, my upload speeds when not downloading hovering at about 50 kb/s. Sometimes, though, my network no longer acknowledges my existence. Everything will be going fine, and all of a sudden the whole thing drops down to 0 kb/s and I can't open any web pages. I assume the powers that be don't want my upstream to sit at 50 kb/s? I speak minimal korean and I never got the specs on my connection. I just got the best connection on the--they explained it as the 'silver' service, as opposed to the 'gold--ADSL service from my local KT branch.
What is even more strange, at least to me, is that if I start Kazaa Lite it will all come back together. It's like some sort of technological heart surgery; I just start up Kazaa Lite, it connects to the p2p network, and all of the sudden I'm able to go back on the internet.
Does anyone know how I can fix it so I don't have to either unplug my ADSL and wait 15 minutes (that sometimes happens when KLite just won't connect), or connect to Kazaa? Should I cut down my upstream to 40 kb/s? 30?
Any help would be appreciated.

I have the a similar problem- I use Win XP and have an external adsl modem rented from a local ISP (that buys bandwidth wholesale from Bell and resells it to me cheaper than Sympatico)- everyone once in a while at unpredictable intervals I will also lose my connection- only a reboot solves things. Never had a sufficient explanation from tech support or anyone else- "Try rebooting and see if that works." is always the suggestion, and of course that works so they are satisfied that it's 'problem solved', but meanwhile I'm still frustrated a few times a week. |
