hi. i have a 2 part question. 1.has anyone ever bought a round trip ticket that started from korea to canada and then back to korea ?? im just asking coz ive seen some great deals on a few korea web site companies that are a lot cheaper for me anyway, than my agent back home. a few times i seen round trip from seoul to toronto and back for 900,000won.
couldnt beleive it! with restrictions of course. it was also with air canada. not expensive like back home, in my experience that is. like here, thier own airlines like koreaair are more expensive to use. i figured it out and in the long run i would be saving a few hundred loonies!!!

2. has anyone flown a oneway from canada to korea? the reason i ask
is because if i was going to purchase my round trip from korea, coming back to korea it would be technically be a one-way ticket in the canadian customs ,immigration eyes, and i heard from a few friends that the canadian gov't HAD to see a return ticket coming back to canada. even
one of my friends had to buy a ticket coz at the airport in vancouver coz they wouldnt let him go without buying a return back. so that what he did.

any experiences, thoughts or tips ???

thanks

Usually it's the airline that demands to see a return ticket (not your own country's government, they don't care), because if Korean customs doesn't let you in, it's the airline's responsibility to take you back to where they brought you from, and they don't want to have to do that. Thus, if Korean immigration law says you must have a return ticket to get into the country, then the official airline policy will be that you must have an onward ticket to get on the plane.

However, if you have an ARC, then there is no reason why the airline should require you to have a return ticket, because people with residency permits are not required to have return tickets to enter Korea (because we live here). Therefore, if the airline is requiring an onward ticket to sell you a one-way ticket or to let you on a flight, even though you have a residency permit here, they are making a mistake. Make it clear to them that you are legal here.
