| Thats easy you turn right at the chick with aids, keep going until you pass 5 of the scummiest white guys you have ever seen, turn left at the ladyboy, watch out for the drug sellers who will turn you in, and it is down that street with all the scummy bars. The only difficult part is telling which is the bar you want because they are all as scummy as you and your mates that hang in Pattaya. |

I downloaded a TV series last week called Big Trouble in Thailand or something like that. It was basically about these volunteer police from around the world, and how they'd been sent to Pattaya to help deal with all the crime. Crazy stuff! It's not a place I plan on visiting in my lifetime. And those ladyboys are evil!

PATTAYA ROCKS!
Accomodation is cheap, you can see the boxing and bands for free, the seaford is good and the ladies are fine. All that's missing is a decent beach.
To those that say its scummy and full of hookers and ladyboys, have you not been to Itaewon or Onsan?
At least Thailand is comfortable with its vices, not like this racist, closeted homophobic mob! |

Yes but...the bad parts of Thailand are *much* worse than the bad parts of Korea I think. In Korea I'm not constantly accosted by prostitutes, don't see old, fat, bald men fingering teenage girls on the street, don't have to deal with the general filth, argue over using the taxi meter, -etc.
I agree Korea is less open about it's vices...but in some ways, I kind of like that (see above).
I'm with you on the homophobia bit though...though at least in Korea, any homosexual boys can pretty much act like they're dating in public without anyone noticing. So I suppose that's nice. |

Yes you are right, Pattaya has serious social problems, none worst than the pedophiles that seem to have free range over the local children. The cities reputation attracts the most vile visitors, I agree it is disgusting.
But as for being dirtier than Korea, I think they are on par. Down here in Busan, the sewerage stench is just as bad as Bangkok and when I lived in Bucheon my neighborhood was full of rotting garbage with the occaisonal dead animal left to rot on the sidewalk. I don't think Koreans are as clean as Thai's, the early morning streets aren't stained with vomit over there!
As for the no gay's in Korea line: Ever wandered into the Hamilton sauna or the Hyundai in Itaewon in the wee hours to get some shut eye? Its like a roman orgy. And I don't think they are using rubbers either.
Will they find a way to blame the comming HIV explosion on foreigners? I'm sure they will try  |

Sorry, one more gibe about Korea.
Hookers accost me all the time here, walking out of Stompers or Pollys kettle or anywhere around hooker hill at 3am. Just as they do near walking street in Pattaya.
The difference is in Pattaya they are slim, tanned, 20-somethings supporting a kid and parents up north. While in Itaewon they are short, frumpy, 40- somethings with missing teeth and privies loosened by 20 years of 'service'.

Those directions will get him to some scumhole of a bar. I don't think anyone who hangs out in pataya really cares if they make it to Gunthers bar. They just like to play russian roulette by placing things in places that things shouldnt be placed in and even paying for it.
Going to pattaya would be like hanging out in the scummiest part of any city and looking for drugged out ladies. |

Hey thanks for the tip, Youtube pretty much has the first 3 episodes. Actually, the Thai side of things was pretty much how I had envisioned it(having never been there myself). I never thought much about the drunken, foreign, trouble makers, though I guess I should have. It's the same with Tiajuana. It's Tiajuana because of the people who go down there and trash it. |
