Anyone who got an E-2 Visa outside of Seoul, how long did it take once you handed in the documents?
I went to Seoul yesterday, and it will take a week to go pick it up.
For new people who haven't applied for a Visa in-country - the office is in the SK building very close to the Angkuk Station exit #6 - with Insadong just down the street. It is on the 2nd floor.
Once you find the office for "applications" on the 2nd floor, take a number from the machine. I arrived right at the start of lunch when there were only a couple of processors, and I was 43 in line. It only took about an hour, and as people returned from lunch, it started humming.
If your number is 5 or so away, don't go to the toilet or to get some water or fail to pay attention. They are very quick on the button to ring it for the next person if they fail to see someone approaching the first time they ding it...
I can't speak for how friendly or not they are, because my Korean wife was with me, and 99% of the conversation ended up being in Korean though I was the one processing the E-2 Visa.
The process was fairly painless and quick enough.
I've spent much longer processing an immigration visa for my wife before we left for the US in 2000. |
