It's starting to get chilly, especially riding at night, so I'm in need of a good leather jacket to get me through the winter. Does anyone have any recommendations for places to buy quality leather jackets?

theres a shop on the 2nd floor in itaewon. same side as the hamilton. called maxler. they are pretty good. they have a website too. but i dont have it to hand. you could google it i guess.

they stock a lot of outsizes too. i got heine gericke stuff there. they also have stuff such as dainese, alpinestars, triumph and other brands. they make their own too.

Not sure if this would be considered a "quality" but I will throw it out there as a friendly advisory.

Avoid the "Rothschild" leather jackets sold at Emart (perhaps Homeplus or another place also) I bought one last year and the teeth on the zipper started falling out after 3 weeks. Emart was kind enough to exchange it without a receipt, and the second one had the same problem a few weeks later. I chalked it up to a bad design and rather than try to exchange it or refund bought a cheap 30,000 won Henry Brown jacket with NO zipper problems.

Had one of these (but better looking) and it lasted 5 years.

Itaewon good for leather. Also Dongdaemun (doota building and subway shopping arcade.)

I paid 350,000 for the RAF flight jacket.

Paid 120,000 for a beauty little blazer stlyle black buffallo skin jkt. Soft as glove leather but as tough as at the same time. Some cnut stole it from Gekkos.

Also paid 100,000 for a lovely tan brown blazer (brad in fight club)soft leather jkt. Some cnut stole it from Helios.

Hint - don't leave your new jacket unnatended anywhere and I mean anywhere in Hongdae or Itaewon.

Leather is murder.

It's also tacky. That's probably the more important reason.

Leather jackets are for guidos, balding old farts having their midlife crisis, and dudes that wear white socks with suits and/or white, high top sneakers for anything other than basketball.

Don't be that guy. Canvas is trendy and classic. Wool will always be sophisticated. And if you have to go the dead cow route, go suede.

The only leather a modern man should wear anymore is his wallet (sorry, nylon and velcro are for middle schoolers), his belt, and maybe a wrist watch band, depending on the occasion.

So is it tacky and murder, or just mostly tacky? Makes that first sentence look kind of opportunistically self-righteous.

Leather cuts the wind better than anything for riders. Wear a wool sweater under it. Wool or down is what will keep you warm best for those hoofing it.
