What's the scene like now? Is Vinyl Underground still quality considering the lack of options? Is there anything new and better?
Regarding Daegu, from what I hear, there is no scene at all? Info? |

I've been to Vinyl a couple times and, at least for me, it's awesome. I'm a huge electronic fan so I always have a good time, even if there are very few people there. The first time I went there was a 4 DJ lineup that played Tech/Funky/Ghetto House and a little bit of Psytrance. Second time I went they had Drum and Bass playing (probably my favorite edm genre right now).
The only other place I know of is Club Elune in Haeundae. I haven't been but it's supposed to have some solid music (mostly House and Trance).
I haven't been here long enough to know what the "scene" is but based on my visists to Vinyl there's almost no scene. Very sad for me (having come from San Fran), but what can you do, the Koreans aren't really into the electronic sound much. I'd be more than happy to make the scene more popular though. I'd like to work with Vinyl Underground to bring in more people. It's a great place, not too clubby but not too ghetto either. |

Hey, I'm acutally into the underground House dancing scene here, competitions and stuff.
I went to Busan for an International Hip-Hop Competition this past August. I just happened to walk into Vinyl Underground and for a good 3 hours they were playing solid Deep House. Then some featured electronic dance-hall artist came on and killed the whole vibe for me. I guess they like their reggae there too.
If you live in Seoul, every month there are Deep House parties @ Club Via near Ska II in Hongdae. It's the best real New York style house event in Korea in my opinion.
Check out www.streetdance.co.kr for events/competitions, and showcases. They had a couple of pool parties at the Hamilton Hotel in Iteawon over the summer. That shit was awesome.
For any real House heads, hit me up, I go to parties weekly, especially now since the dance season is starting. I practice daily as well for any dancers out there.
I'm talking about real New York/Chicago style house. If you want that European tectonic mess, go to M2. |

Daegu isn't too bad if you aren't too much of a snob (kidding!).
G2 or Frog (shut it) are probably my favorite spots in the city. they are not strictly house clubs, but play a mix of house/u.s. top40/kpop. Frog's system is really nice (or at least compared to the shittier systems i'm used to back home). lots of koreans at both and they don't party too hard, but i've always had a good time at both. Frog on Sundays is pretty good if you work late Monday. It's about the only place that is packed downtown on a Sunday.
Monkey also isn't too bad, but they play a bit more hip-hop if I remember right. I may be confusing some of these places... |

Are you serious? Sorry bruthah, but those 3 clubs play nothing but 5 year old hip-hop and k-hop. It has nothing to do with being a snob, but those clubs are serious torture just being in. The DJs don't even know how to mix tracks together, and everyone dances with their thumbs out ala Elaine from Seinfeld.
I'm afraid of getting my eyes poked out. |

Vinyl Underground was closed one Saturday night in mid-September.
Was it being renovated? More importantly, has it re-opened? (Don't tell me it's been closed permenantly) I like that place. |

haha fair enough. i don't know though. i was at all 3 at various points this past saturday and although they do play a great deal of kpop, hiphop was on the minimum until later in the night. it was a lot of really bassy stuff mixed with some top 40 (pitbull over and over... eugh).
i've only been here for a little while, maybe they have changed things up a bit? i'm not much of a househead though, so i guess don't take my word for too much.
i will agree with you on the dancing though. the kids just kinda bob around. i still have fun. i'm easily pleased i suppose |

As ropebreezy said above, this place 'Elune' looks promising. No phone number that i can see on the website, so i can't get a bead on the lineup.

Yes, Vinyl Underground is under extensive renovation. It should be finished pretty soon according to the owner. |

Elune is also that type of European Tectonic music I was talking about. Super trendy, super hip spot. It's a place for rich Korean guys to pick up Korean princesses. They give you a free drink ticket for the most disgusting tasting beer I have ever had the displeasure of putting in my mouth.
Enjoy.

Club Elune's facebook group if you're interested. I'll probably go once just to see what it's like.
Yeah Vinyl is under renovation, I'm assuming they're re-opening this weekend? If they are come out! |

It would be nice to know for sure if they're opening this weekend. Coming from Daegu, it would be a pain.
I've always enjoyed Vinyl. |

A blast from the past Martin Solveig will be at the Novotel Busan "CLub Murphii" for French night on Saturday.
