|
|
Well yesterday my boss told me that I'll be getting paid my severance pay on September 7th and my contract ends on August 18th.
Does that make sense to anyone?
I thought severance pay is suppose to come on the day contract ends.
Another reason she might be doing this is because I'm not a E-2 visa holder so she knows that I'm not going to leave the country right after August 18th.
Just wondering if this is legal or is there a law that states one must be paid severance pay when contract terminates? |

Article 36 and 37 of the KLSA state the employer can delay pay up to 14 days...but must pay it upon that date or incur late interest charges on the money owned. I'd print out the copy of the KLSA on this forum ( the one on page 3 not page 1) and show it to her.
I'd also ask her to give a good reason or pay up. |

She said the reason why I'm being paid on that day is because that day is our pay day.
We get paid every 7th, and she told me that all Korean teachers when they quit the job they get paid on the 7th of the next month but after reading this law, it seems like bullshit.
Truthfully, even though I AM staying in Korea after our contract terminates I should get paid on the day I end. |

I think we should all get paid before our last day so we have time to do some banking. I got my severance on the last day of my contract last year. |

i'm told my last paycheck and severance will come on the normal payday, which is 3 weeks after I leave. the airfare will be paid tomorrow (after I leave korea) but yeah, i'd rather not have to deal with wire transfer fees (particularly when the school district squabbled over 20k won due to won fluctuations, and I"m footing the bill for a 60k won transfer fee).
