So my wife is back in the states, and we talk every day. Today she told me about this guy that kidnapped a 7 or 8 yr. old girl last year, took her home, raped her anally, then proceeded to use a plunger on her anal cavity to "get rid of the evidence" - which destroyed her intestinal walls, pulled out the intestines, and destroyed the wall between her anus and her vaginal area.

Then the guy only gets 12 years in prison, but hey wait - he actually protested the sentence - appealed to a higher court because, get this: He was drunk, and didn't have control over his own actions.

Wife said that the website Korean gals use in the states called "MISSY USA" is full of hate for this guy. One girl even sent the whole story over to Oprah, with all the links to hopefully expose the Korean justice system. Some Koreans are replying on the thread saying "That's a national shame, why would you do that", while others agree that it's good to get the word out and maybe that will force the courts to take a harder line on rape in general.

Anyway, apparently the whole story has been covered up by the government for the past year, but was recently exposed to the nation because they want national attention focused on this story instead of some other stuff that the govt. is doing/involved in, not sure about that angle.

I'm waiting on a link on the story from my wife. Most likely will be in Korean, but I'm sure some tech savvy Korean speakers here could easily find it for us.

Sorry if this is a dupe thread. If so, feel free to destroy the post.

if anyone can get the word out about something like this its Oprah. It would be good for the country in the long run and especially women in this country.

I'm a bit confused. You are saying your wife is in the U.S.

The Korean females are posting furiously on a site in the U.S.

But you also mention Korean law and the incident being exposed in Korea.

Did this happen in the U.S. or Korea? By the sentence of 12 years and the guy saying he was drunk blah, blah and BLAH, I would guess Korea?

P.S. Unbelievable story!! Sounds like it could have happened in NYC!! What a piece of work, the human being!!

Actually, just run a naver search for 나영이사건 and you'll get a lot more results:

It came up on an episode of "쌈" on the 22nd which looked at sex crimes against children in Korea.

I really hope people don't start doing/saying bad things about Korea in this thread. This is a story about ONE individual criminal in Korea. We all should be able to talk about it as adults and not make this into a racist bs thread with arguments flying all over the place. Let's stay on topic, so the thread doesn't get pulled. Please.

He's in jail, in Korea. He's Korean. This happened about a year ago in Korea.

Hope that answers your questions.

Fine, Let's get it rolling sans any dirt. The act itself could have happened in any country. Clean enough!! It's the legal system with fines replacing jail time and the "leniancy" (spelling?) that I have a problem with. I guess in relation to western law, eastern law sees little value in human life and dignity.

Is there a breakdown on the sentence? I mean, is 12 years for rape or is it some years for rape, some for the physical damage due to the plunger etc.
Considering how lenient rape sentences are here generally, 12 years is more than I expected. I wonder if there were less physical damage if he would have gotten more like 5 years or something. I agree about not bashing Korea or Koreans about this, but some improvement could be made in the penal system. One, more strict penalties for any rape/sexual assault. Two, being drunk at the time of a misdeed should not in any way lessen the penalty. If a person cannot stop himself from committing crimes when he is drunk, it would be a mistake to release him into a society where getting drunk is cheap, common, and mostly acceptable.

If this were the states, a 12 year sentence for raping a little girl would be the equivalent of a death sentence. Once the inmates got word of it~

I hope awful things happen to him over and over in prison. They really should just had him over to a mob and let them tear him to pieces.

Monsters like this are exceptions to my usual liberal attitude to criminals. I only wish this guy pain, enormous suffering, then a slow death. He deserves it.

A plunger for fecks sake!!!

The national shame here is not the crime (as terrible as it was) it's the sentence given out.
