All the house clubs around Seoul now seem to be playing a lot of Psy-trance now. That stuff was popular 10 years ago if i remember. 140+ Beats per minute? Shit. I consider myself open minded.......but can't take this stuff. Guess I'm getting old. Any proper "house" venues left? When I used to live here (years ago) there was a place called Matmatta that was was great. Is it Still around?.

Matmata closed in 2004, combined with MI and created M2, Seoul's first big international club. M2 isn't strictly house, but you're more than likely to hear it there every weekend. It's a pretty young crowd, but it's packed /busy 4 nights a week.

Mass in Gangnam has some pretty solid resident DJs that play house music week in and week out.

If you're looking for a smaller venue that plays strictly house, check out B1 in Itaewon. However, get there early as it gets WAY overcrowded after midnight.

Les Nuit Blanche (formerly known as Answer), Heaven, Eden, and Volume all host the big international DJs, with genres ranging from minimal to psy-trance depending on the artist.

Defected (the most prominent house label in the world) will be hosting their first ever "Defected in the House" party in Korea next month with Chocolate Puma...house heads won't want to miss that one.

Anyway, hope this helps you out...

Good info, Defected has already had two parties in Korea. They're good, i like them a lot. You're missing the best after-club which is Naked (across from Hilltop Hotel), Answer brings in a lot of famous DJ's..mainly because they're owned by CJ and blow money like it's nothing.

There is a small club called Miroir that plays psy-trance. It's in Hongdae, nearby the Sang sang madang building. They're a really small space, but if you go with a few buddies it's chill & they're super nice there.

They have a facebook page that lists their weekly lineup & directions. The name of the group is "MIROIR. the psychedelic music club in hong-dae"
