| I have been here for 2 years. And I think I got one more year left in me. But after that. I am not sure. I was thinking about volunteering in Africa or South America, mexico. I don't want to teach necessarily, more like build houses. Anyone do this kind of thing before?Any ideas where to get started? Thanks much. |

probably would have been easier to just google it -
volunteerabroad.com is a good place to start - they have listings for all the high-profile volunteer organizations.
I HIGHLY recommend idealist.org - They do a lot of research about their listings and it's run by great people.
Good luck!

you should check out habitat for humanity. i had a friend who saved a bit of money and toured the world picking up the odd organic farming job to get a bit of cash and the rest of the time he volunteered with habitat for humanity building houses in asia and south america i believe.
just google them and their website should have info for it. |

| The main site for organic farm volunteering, if you're interested, is http://wwoof.org/ |

I second idealist.org and volunteerabroad.com. Also have a look at transitionsabroad.com and volunteersouthamerica.net. Lots of good opportunities on that last one, especially if you speak Spanish.
Having taught in Korea for just over three years and recently completed an MA in International Relations in the UK, I'm also looking to break into the voluntary/charity sector. It's not easy to land that first job, but I've been offered an opportunity to go volunteer in Nepal for 4/5 months working with street kids and on income generation projects, so I hope that this will be a step in the right direction toward eventually finding full-time work with an NGO.
I wasn't sure how my teaching experience in Korea was going to look on my CV, but hopefully it won't work against me. |

| The pay is so low I thought I was volunteering when I came to Korea. |
