Hey,

I have applied through EPIK to teach in March. I have to specify on whether I want to teach Elementary or Middle school. Could anyone give me a heads up on what to expect with both? I was drawn to Middle school because of the 2 o'clock start time but that might be a bit foolish if its a lot more work.

Thanks!

Woah!

No middle school in K-land has a 2:00 start time!

Check you would really have an EPIK contract. This stinks of an 'afterschool' hogwan/corrupt PS collusion with two contracts where you're a public employee 'in name only' (for Immigration purposes), but are being farmed out to a public school(s) by a private employer.

All high school midde school and elementary real EPIK public school jobs have you onsite all the day between approx 8.30am- 5pm , but teaching 22 classes.

The real EPIK application form asks you for a preference for teaching level, but there is no way you should be definite on a selection of class levels as you will get placed where EPIK think you are best anyway.

Any contract saying a 2pm start is likely a cut and paste EPIK contract for a private after school program run from an outside business, but on the public school grounds

Thanks,

I was told by a friend about the two o clock start time. He must have been mistaken.

So can anyone help me otherwise as what to expect from both Middle and Elementary?

What I strongly suggest Justine is to make a search on the differences between elementary and middle school teaching - there are a TON of threads on that very subject on this board. You need to be studying these boards instead of expecting answers to be spoonfed to you.
