Hello,

I have just read through the Jeju EPIK sample contract to find that only 2 weeks holiday are granted. 7 days in the winter and 7 in the summer. The regular EPIK sample contract grants 2 additional days in the winter.
Seeing as public schools typically have over 2 months off per year, can any current EPIKers shed any light on the situation. Do they make you work camps, sit in an empty school or give longer holidays than stated on the contract?

Thanks

I don't have the contract in hand but I think it's 18 days. 10 in winter and 8 in summer or vice versa. It depends on your situation but you will probably have a camp and desk warming but there is a good chance you might get extra time.

The answers are:
maybe;
maybe; and,
maybe.

Unless the Jeju POE has a specific policy, it depends on each individual principal.

It's Jeju...just sign the contract Very Happy

If you have a decent principal you'll get nearly all the holidays anyway.

This past summer, the POE assigned various camps to teachers depending on the camps you work at your own school(s) and when you scheduled your vacation. So it's possible that you may be given other camps at which to work when you might normally be "deskwarming" or doing "home study". Or you might not be given any additional camps at all. Not sure how the winter vacation will shape up.

Some of the camps this past summer were not on the main island, and were for extra pay. Others were not.

Luck of the draw.
