hey,

I will be flying from Korea to Ireland and am wondering whether to fly with Air France or KLM.
Price-wise and itinerary-wise they are very similar.

I'm guessing Schiphol might be a better airport than CDG to navigate with a baby, but I'd like to hear from someone with first hand experience. As far as I can remember, you don't need to take buses or trains at Schiphol, whereas you do in CDG.

Also, I'm wondering if there is any difference in the comfort level of the "bassinet" seats that they offer. If anyone could specifically include details on how near the seats are to the galley or toilets, legroom for Mum and Dad, treatment by flight attendants, preferential boarding, luggage space for a buggy, nappy-changing tables etc and anything else you can think of.

If it makes any difference, the baby will be around 5 months by the time we travel.
thanks a lot!

Im not sure what it would be like with a baby but i've flown on both routes, and certainly air france were miles more comfortable to fly with. the level of service was also much better. If its an option for you british airways were even better to fly with, there were lots of people with young children on board and they seemed very well taken care of.

Hope that helps any bit.

I have not travelled with Air France but have done the long haul with KLM three times now. Their service was pretty crappy on two of the three flights from Amsterdam to New Delhi. I would go with Air France due to the positive reports on service.

If you fly from Seoul to Dublin via Paris, both flights arrive and depart from the same terminal at CDG so no need to worry about buses and stuff. For some weird reason, you do have to go through security again in Paris though so you can't buy any booze at ICN.

I don't know about traveling with babies, but I flew Air France from Chicago to Cairo and it was awesome. Individual tv's for every seat, good food, wine... It was my favorite airline to fly with to date.

They are the same company (KLM-Air France) but I don't know if that makes any difference.

I recently flew KLM and was not overly impressed with them. They were ok, but not great.

The Amsterdam to Seoul leg of both journeys didn't have back of the seat entertainment which sucks. I didn't notice anything relevant to travelling with a baby though.

I flew Air France from DC to Paris and the bassinet seats were awesome. Tons of leg room and usually not close to the bathrooms (i'm assuming they didn't want to wake the baby with the slamming bathroom doors.) From what I know, they will boot the people from the front row on many airlines if you show up with an infant.
