Now that I think I understand the requirements to obtain the D-8 (investment visa), I have a few related questions. Can anyone offer any insight on these:
1. Once you are granted the D-8 visa, what requirements must be met in order to have the visa extended? Immigration will not give out that information (at least not to me). I'm assuming a lot of it depends on the income generated, but they wouldn't give me any figures when I asked. Had a Korean friend call and surprisingly got a similar response.
2. There's another thread (by The Cosmic Hun) looking for native English speakers who have an F2/F5 visa, but have never married. The following appears in this thread:

To get an F-5 with no family ties you need to have worked for the same company for 5 consecutive years and be earning 3x the average Korean salary (calculated by per capita GDP of the previous year). |
I have also come across this (in the past) on an immigration site. Does anyone know if it would be possible to get an F-5 this way if you are self-employed for 5 years and meet the earning requirements?
3. I have also read before that there is another way to obtain an F-5 visa through a D-8 visa, but that there are more stringent requirements (a much great initial investment, having to employ a certain number of Koreans for a certain number of years, etc.) Can anyone confirm exactly what these requirements are and whether or not this is really true?
Thanks for any information you can offer. |
