Hello everyone. I am considering accepting a position with Swaton in Daegu. Does anyone know anything about this school? How about the Daegu area in general? Thanks! |

Swaton is a Chain. Chains are more then one individual school. Daegu is a big city. So the question is "Where in Daegu?" and "What is the Name of the Person doing the hiring?"

i went for an interview with them about a year ago. Didnt like them at all, they didnt offer housing or anything else a hogwon would offer. the director in seoul was bitchy and got mad at me for asking questions, so i told her that i should be able to ask any question to you and u shouldnt get upset, i told her that she was hiding something about the school and i didnt take the job. I thought it was going to be worth paying rent to teach adults, but im glad i didnt take the job since i came here to save money, paying rent in apujung wouldnt have been smart, and all the apt. they showed me where in the basement, tiny one room places 500-600,000. I wasnt impressed with them at all. |

Actually, I heard the job in Daegu offers an apartment, single housing. Go ahead and ask the person in Seoul many questions. I am sure he or she will answer. Is the person a foreigner or Korean? |

Skippy's right, Swaton is a chain, and each school is owned by a different owner, so I don't know about Daegu. I have heard bad things about a few of the schools in Seoul, and there have been a few of them that have closed in the last few months. I have worked at the Swaton in Daejeon for a year and never had a problem with anything, ever. I was interviewed by the people Seoul, and the guy who interviewed me was more than happy to answer all of my questions.
One thing that I did ask him was how many foreign teachers were at the school. When he told me, I asked to have a couple of them contact me by email, just so I could ask them questions (of course I told him they were questions about living in Korea, but I'm sure he's not an idiot). They were happy to do that as well.
Not sure if that helps, but I had a good year with the Swaton folks. |
