|
|
Hi,
I ordered a korg drum machine from the US online. Not being from the US myself I plugged straight into the korean mains with a plug convertor and immediately blew the following power supply.
Input: 120V 60Hz 10w
Output: 9V DC 600mA
My question is; rather than ordering a new power supply online and buying a step down transformer, wouldn't I just be able to buy a korean 9V DC adaptor? Strangely I have a korg synth bought in Korea which uses just such an item and the plug doesn't fit the back of the drum machine!? - It's too small.
I appreciate this is really boring but if anyone knows the reason and answer, I'd appreciate it.
Cheers |

You will have to find a transformer (power supply) that match all the voltages, amperages and wattages.........
Input: 120V 60Hz 10w
Output: 9V DC 600mA
Then the jack into the synth should fit too.
Spend some time hoking around Yongsan showing the broken power supply and I'm sure one of the vendors will find you a replacement. |

You need to match the voltage and amperage, the wattage need only be the same or greater. Check out your nearest music store as well. I bought a Korg AX1500g that likely uses the same adapter as your machine and replaced the adapter at a music store. |

Nah...
he only needs to match the output (Output: 9V DC 600mA ) and get a jack adapter to fit. should cost about 7-10k won.
The street side of the nanjin arcade is the place to go (the one attached to the blue building by the pedway on the 2nd floor).
You should also be able to find a "universal adapter" with a variable output (6-24vDC) @600mA with an assortment of jacks that will also work (about 12-20k won). I have also seen them at the electronic junk tables under the son-in plaza.

Thanks for the advice,
I went to Yongsan this Saturday and as suggested easily found a korean adaptor with removal/replacable jack in the basement of the Son-In plaza.
My Drum machine works again! |
