Just curious...anyone here who used to drive a semi, or plans to drive one after their teaching gig is up?

did you like the job? what did you like about it?

long hours yes, but the independence & road trip aspect is very appealing...

ok, i guess not.

i may get back into the ESL game some time, but with the recession,

global meltdown & nobody hiring, trucking is a job i'm

considering for a while to pay down debt & save some cash. hey, they are

always hiring, and you pay no rent, since you live in the dam truck.

seems like a good way to me to survive the meltdown, while getting to

see some country. so no one else thinking of being an 18-wheel cowboy

for a while?

yeah, cool, good for ya. it's actually something i'd like to do - mindless, simple.

yet i think i'd be bad at it. i'm something of a narcoleptic. it will never happen for me.

I'd drive Truck but then I'd get distracted fiddling with the Sirius/XM trying to find the Midnight Trucking Hour or whatever its called and crash into the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant.

Still its a job with a code: 1 life for 10. Gotta respect that.

Laughing Laughing Laughing

I would honestly try it if I didn't have anymore exciting prospects. I'd only do it, though, if it were cross-country.

And I could totally smite more than 10 people with an 18-wheeler. You have failed as a trucker if you can't wipe out at least 25 yards of traffic-congested highway.
