I'm not good at traveling. I show up late sometimes. I forget stuff. I dislike the whole ordeal at airports, train and bus stations. I've slept in airports. I've had to buy new tickets. I've forgotten important things. Main idea is, I don't like to travel. I do like seeing and being in other places though. Are you good at traveling? What's your secret? |

That's all part of the travel experience. You're not dead or incapacitated yet, why worry? |

My secret is having a little bit of awareness of how the world works and being slightly organised.
It's amazing what the human brain can do when you try and use it. |

Passport, tickets, quintuple-redundant currency access (Cash, AMEX cheques, credit/ATM/debit cards stashed in different bags, and Western Unioning myself an emergency $300 US before the trip) and scanned copies of all related travel documents attached to an self addressed email.
Oh, and swimtrunks, flipflops, and a couple of tanktops. |

You pay the WU fee (around 40 on 300 - no?) just to send your own money to yourself.
No offense SS, but - |

I used to make lists of what I needed way in advance, like two weeks or so and checked it thoroughly before my departure. Also have somebody else look at your list and what you're taking. I never had any problems with traveling because it was always a trip away (vacation) from work and i love going to different places. |

I'm good at travelling. New countries are like fun puzzles to solve & human nature is pretty much the same everywhere.
Secrets to easy trips? 1) Travel very light. If theres anything the local environment requires, it will be readily & cheaply available (because the locals need it too). Lugging crap is a drag. 2) Money. I guess you could carry travellers checks & cards backing up cards but I just take ample US cash in my pocket. 3) Relax & enjoy. |

I'm exactly the opposite of the OP. I'm organized and I have my stuff together when traveling... but I enjoy being in a familiar and comfortable place over a new place. |

ditto
If I truly had my way, I would never take anything more than what I wore or had in a carry on. The rest I would buy later when I needed it. |

I like the feeling of being bewildered and discovering new things. It's part of the travel process. I like hanging out at airports. It's a feeling of "I'm travelling and having fun." |
