How do you teach writing?

Actually, I'm not looking for teaching tips (I don't teach writing) - but for tips I can learn from. I need serious work on my Korean writing ability. I can read the language and have a basic vocabulary, but I swear I can't write a single sentence in Korean without making a mistake. Any tips?

Or .. if you are good at writing in Korean ... how did you get there?

Thanks

Good for you for trying to improve your writing!

Here are a couple of ideas you could try (unfortunately, these aren't from experience of being any good at writing in Hanguel. Rather, they are a couple of ideas ripped off from a good teaching reading/writing text by Paul Nation) Anyways:

Delayed copying: have a paragraph and a piece of paper. Look at a phrase, try to remember it, then look away and write it. Try only to look at each phrase once and challenge yourself to copy bigger and bigger chunks of the text as you get better. It can be improved by pausing between looking and writing as this forces you to hold phrases in your head.

Backwriting: Read a passage. After you understand the text, copy some key words from the passage onto a piece of paper (copy only the base form of the word). Then put the text away and write what you remember of the passage by filling in around the key words.

Hope these help. Good luck!
