I'm looking to buy a Canon FD 50mm 1.2L lens. I found one in Chungmuro, but the glass was quite dirty, so I didn't buy it. Note that it says FD and not EF.

If anyone has this lens, or knows someone who does, and are willing to part with it, please let me know. Send me a price and we'll go from there.

My email is [email protected].

Thanks.

PS. Does anyone know of a Korean site similar to craigslist or keh.com. I've checked out auction.co.kr, but there's nothing there.

By dirty was it just a smudge or something sticky on the front element? If you can clean it, stick with it.

These are the things you need to be more concerned about...oil on the aperture blades, lens separation, lens aberrations (chipped glass, strange patterns, hazing), and scratches on the rear element. Scratches on the front glass won't make a huge difference, especially if they're small and to the edge of the element. Such scratches won't show up on your images. In the center of the element they can cause big problems and will most likely show up, especially when you point it at the sun.

I haven't come across anyone still shooting the FD system...good luck, as prices are super cheap (especially online).

Oh, yeah, check out ch20.co.kr

It's a great place for used camera gear...a bit over priced, but what isn't in this country.

100,000 for an f1.2...not bad, the Nikkors still command a price of 450,000W and up.

Thanks for the feedback and the website. I'll have to try to find that store. However, the 50mm they have is not the L version. I may just have to pick that one up if I can't find an L in good condition.

The lens I found didn't have any scratches, hazing, or fungus. However, there was lots of dust between the elements. I know that the dust won't effect the pictures, but I've heard that dust can degrade the elements over time. Also, if I wanted to get it cleaned, that could also damage the lens. The store was charging 600,000Won for the lens, which is actually a good price for this particular lens, but not really in that condition.

I guess I'll just have to keep looking.

Thanks again.
