I'm interested in a get-away out of Seoul this weekend, probably to somewhere in Gangwon-do. Figure we'll just head to a bus station on Saturday, find somewhere to take in the scenery, spend the night in a minbak, and head back to Seoul on Sunday. I have been to both Gangneung and Sokcho and liked them, but have never been to Chuncheon or farther south on the Gangwon-do coast (though the southern coast might take too long from Seoul).
My main worries are hordes of adjumma/adjosshi hikers on their way to see the falling leaves at Sorak-san (so I think Sorak-san is out), and the weather (since the weekend weather report seems unstable still).
Any recommendations/advice?
Thanks! |

Hmm, guess it would have been better to post this in the travel forum. Mods, feel free to move it (don't want to break the rules and double-post!). |

Wonju is nice, you can go to Chiaksan and hike.
Chuncheon is definitely worth a visit, as is Namyangju, all of these are not coastal though.
It will probably be busy anywhere but them's the breaks. |
