|
|
so i know there is a thrift store thread and The Beautiful Store/Salvation Army here has some decent stuff, but I wanted to gauge some opinions on which BRANCH store has the best stuff (for ex: JongNo branch, Hongdae branch, Jonggak branch, etc.). Back home we have gigantic thrift stores offering ridiculous bargains and I was wondering if maybe any of the thrift chains here have one branch that some ppl have had really good luck with in terms of finding clothes (or even other cool things).
it's an absolute nightmare for me to go shopping here in terms of style and size. Itaewon doesn't offer me much either and even the crappiest American things there are overpriced. an XOXO dress for $140? ridiculous considering the dress costs $30 at a local Macy's in the US and isn't even great quality!
anyway, any help on this would be greatly appreciated. thanks! |

It *is* a shoppers paradise if you are similar to Asian sizes^^ I have never not fit in anything here, so my options are endless! I can go to Dongdaemun, Namdaemun, Myeongdong, Gangnam, the university area of your choice, you name it, it's all there for me to grab @_@ Living in Asia has been seriously bad for my wallet... The only thing that is IMPOSSIBLE for me to buy is shoes, which is pretty darn annoying.
But yeah, I can see how it's tough for very tall or overweight peeps (though I do see more and more tall or overweight young Koreans every day) |

What's your size? Like Ann Taylor?
I've got a friend who runs an import/export business. He's been asking me for ideas for business and I keep telling him there is a huge expat market that needs clothes. One of his business partners has some overstock he couldn't ship to the US and he's going to be selling some no-label stuff in western sizes. I think he said the price was going to be around 20,000-30,000 W (which tells you how much mark-up there is when some of these hit stateside). I should be meeting him this week, and I was planning to post in the buy/sell. I think if the dresses sell well he's probably going to actively start looking for more clothes to import. |

| If you do find something, please let us know because I'm out of luck unless its some high brand designer name that I could care less about. |

| i can fit into clothes here (size 6/8 american size and 28 waist), but the problem is this free size crap and the fact that everything looks exactly the same. Free size is not very flattering on my body type. i have curves and i want clothes that flatter them and not hide them. any ideas? |

Korean clothes fit great if your not super tall or overweight. I'm really susprised how often this comes up...
If you can't find your size in Dongdaemun or a department store You clearly can't shop. |

At Dongmeyo Station #xit # 3, there is a really good vintage clothing store. He gets stuff from Italy, Canada, etc. I've bought many things there. Prices are pretty decent.
The Beautiful Store at Kookmin University is pretty good. Though, it depends on what day yo go in. Timing is very important. It's convenient for me, so I check often and purchase (on average) maybe 1 out of 4 to 6 visits. |
