When I go to cancel my SK Telecom cellphone service do I have to go to the same place I signed up for the service to get my security depoist back and pay my final bill? Do I get the money right then and there? I know that I can cancel over the phone, but I am not sure of the rest.
Thanks, |

I doubt you get the money in person (they would have to have a lot of money changing hands for all the customers). You will probably be credited the difference and it will be put into your bank account. |

If that is the case then how long before it hits my account and do I have to go to the same place that I opened the account before? I thought there was a person on this site mentioned they got their whole depoist back at the location? |

Yes, you need to go to that specific store you did business with as mine instructed me to do so when I asked if I could cancel should I only want the phone for 10 or 11 months being that it took 1 month to get an alien card to allow me to get services. Reason why you go back to the small shop you got it is that it's not corporate level you are dealing with even though SK is a large corporate brand, it's just a small business. No money is exchanged in those tiny shops, it's all electronic where it's debited from my bank account while Koreans might pay online. Ever notice there's never a cash register in them tiny stores? |

Ok, let me see if I understand you correctly. I call up the company and cancel then I go to the location I signed up with and get my deposit credited to my bank account while I am standing there and it gets credited right away, minus my bill? |

This is not the same thing, but will show Korean logic at play.
I bought a webcam (35,000 won) and set of headphones (12,000 won) at LotteMart. The webcam CD was too small and seemed like it was trying to read in Korean on an English version of Windows. So, I took it back and got another webcam (32,000 won). You would think they would have simply given me 3,000 won.
No, instead, they charged 44,000 to my bank account. At that point, they had 91,000 won. The next day, they put 47,000 into my account.
Conclusion, go to the shop and find out how you can resolve this. See if you can just do a pay as you go thing until you leave. Then, if it takes a day or week to refund, it won't matter.
DON'T, DO NOT, not even think about it, wait until your last day and try to close it out. You will regret it. Get it squared away now. |
