ok so i need a new phone. the ones i want are either the samsung amoled (samsung jet back in the states) or the blackberry bold.
now, the phones here are ridiculously expensive. i'm only gonna be here for another year so the 2 year plan with a new phone is out of the question.
now i want to know if i can buy the samsung jet or blackberry bold from back home, unlock it, and have it work here on LG, SK or whatever service. the specs seem identical, but i dont know enough about the technical aspects of unlocking phones and putting it on korean service providers. from what i heard from the guy who works at the LG store next to my place, you can unlock korean phones to work in the US but not unlock US phones to work in korea. has anyone had success doing thing? i need objective answers please. thanks.
