What medical tests are required for ARC?
Do you require a liver function test?
Are there drug tests done via a blood or urine sample? |
I had all of these done at the hospital. They never even showed me the results, although I'm sure I could request them.
You will have to give a urine sample and you will have blood drawn.
You'll also do an eye exam, and take standard measurements like blood pressure, weight, height and dental. |

from what i understand public schools require it for all teachers on any visa. In anycase a Hagwon may request it for any foreign teacher and you will probably have to do it if you want to remain there. |

You pay for your own airfare and are reimbursed about 3-4 weeks later. Also, the "settlement fee" doesn't get paid to you until this same time, so you will need some money for food/internet connection etc. |

Yeah, it's normal. You'll get it back after a few weeks at the school. I liked teaching at a public school as it's secure and you know what you'll get. Co-teachers are a lottery though, and 40 kids in a class isn't ideal.
Having said that, I really like some of my classes at school (I've been there almost a year) and will miss some of the students when I leave. Find the girl's classes generally good fun and the boys 50/50 between fun and a pain in the arse. |

yeah you buy your own ticket for public schools, but if you want to get reimbursed as soon as possible go to the hospital the day after you arrive and get the medical check done. that way you can get the results back and turn them into immigration, then get your ARC. after you get your ARC you can get a bank account and you can get paid. so quickest way to do it is go to the hospital the day you arrive or the day after. just have the required tests written down in korean and hand it to someone at the hospital, they will send you in the right direction. |

I got my settlement allowance the day I got to my school, but I do know people who didn't get it until their first paycheck. |
