| I realise that there has been numerous threads about this before, sorry about that. I need to buy some reasonable clothes including an overcoat and I am just outside of the regular Korean sizes. I am no giant but the struggle continues, sometimes I can get some items but its difficult. Does anyone know of some shops in Itaewon that sell western sizes in reasonable quality? Any advice appreciated. |

If you like button down shirts, just get them made for you. Price is about the same as a pre-made shirt and they look and feel better.
Same goes for pants/slacks.
As for jeans, I usually hit the Calvin Klein or Levis store. Expensive, yes. But will last a long time, have a wide selection of sizes, and they will hem the bottoms to fit.
Polo's and T shirts are a toss up. Usually the places that are below street level (basement stores) have some. May be a knock-off or black market though.
Western clothes for men and women here is just something the Korean economy hasn't picked up on. When someone finally does, they're going to make a killing. As soon as they figure out teachers and office guys make a lot more than they do and many of whom have "spending cash" for the first time in their lives and want to look like a million bucks, are willing to buy name brands from home, every store on the block will stock them. |

This isn't entirely true. Myeondong has a full G Star store and and many of the Hyundai Department store has G Star sections as well as Diesel Jean sections as well. I guess it depends on how much you usually spend on clothes. The stores I mentioned above, jeans cost no less than $200 and jackets are $150+. I'm 5'11" and weigh 178lb's and I don't have any issues finding clothes in Korea.
If you are looking for something a bit cheaper, check out Zara or Club Monaco. Zara changes out their selection every 3-4 weeks because they use the fast fashion model, so you are bound to find something you will like. There is also a few stores that sell Vans clothing and there also a few Converse stores...
*EDIT* I realize that G-Star and DIESEL are not western companies (They are both from Europe) but I thought I would mention them since they are both really popular in America right now. |
