Well it is that time of year again, but for me, this is my first year in a public school after three years in hagwon hell, so I have a couple of questions.
What is the process if you want to renew your EPIK contract with the same school?
When are you notified if the school wants you to return? Example, my contract ends 3/26 will I be notified about a renewal before winter vacation in Jan or will they take me all the way to March before letting me know?
I am a good teacher, well liked, I think, by students and staff, what are the renewal chances? In other words, do you have to be a total failure to not be renewed?
Who makes the decision about whether to renew a GET or not? Principal, vice, co-teacher, a troika, a cabal?
Thanks |

Nobody can really say. It depends on your employer and could be anywhere between two months and a week before the end of your contract.
Even from year-to-year, the same employer can have a different time frame because POE's/MOE's administrative personnel change.
As to who makes the decision, that too depends on the employer. Usually it's a combination of input from: your principal, v.p. and co-teachers; and the evaluation of your 'demo class(es)'. |
