About a week and a half ago I started having internet issues. I have a pretty old laptop I bought of someone from Dave's about six months ago, but it's been totally fine. Everything else on the computer seems to work fine. The internet connection appears totally fine... says it's connected, etc. The internet always works for ten or twenty minutes, then it craps out. The strange thing is if I'm signed onto a messenger (not facebook, but yahoo and MSN), I can continue to use it, even if the internet for no other sites work. And my downloads seem to continue working even when I can't go to any other sites.

I called the internet provider and he checked things and said they were fine. And of course it was working fine when he was here, and I don't speak much Korean, so he left without doing a damn thing.

Just makes no sense. But I have a gift for fathering these situations. Internet connection is fine, internet works fine for twenty minutes (half the time it works fine through the night), then it will cut out and refuse to let me go to any sites, but my messengers and downloads go fine.

Any suggestions? Is it my computer or my internet or what? I'll just hurry up and post this, because I'm sure the internet will stop working any minute... ugh.

Are you connected through a modem? If so, try restarting the modem when your connection fails........if that makes the internet work again, then your modem is faulty or not set up right.

Ask your ISP to bring out a fresh modem.

Forgot to mention... I've restarted the modem and all that. Nothing doing.

Also forgot to ask: anyone know a reliable internet provider in Haebangchon? Not CM??

I used CM for 2 years and had nothing but probs with them. I changed to LG powercomm. So much better. Don't bother getting SK either. It was originally Hanaro.

Cool... what's up with LG Powercomm? Do they offer six month packages? Is there a deposit? How easy is it to make an appointment? Costs??

Also, is it definitely not my computer?? Everything else works fine... just want to be sure before I ditch my cable provider...
