|
|
I just moved to 선릉 and have so far been more bored than I have ever been in Korea before. I'm not a 20 year old kid so going to the clubs in 강남 hold about as much interest to me as hitting myself over the head repeatedly with a long stick. Any foreigner bars to hang out in around this area? You know the kind where the music isn't so loud you can't talk, people mingle with each other and make friends and chat, that kind of place? Looking for a place kind of like Now in 수원 or the Frog and Toad in 일산 if you know those places.
Thanks^^ |

Tried Woodstock on a recommendation a couple weekends ago and found it to be very small, cramped, and crowded as well as the music being very loud so conversation would have been impossible. It was on a Saturday night though so maybe that was my problem (at least as far as the loud and crowded part goes). I should try on a weeknight and see if it's any better. |

There's really not a lot of places for foreigners between Gangnam and Samseong station. I live between Seolleung and Hanti station and apart from a very friendly chicken hof I hardly visit anything unless I can BMOF (bring my own friends). This area is mostly restaurants, hofs, noraebangs and room salons (from my chicken hof you can watch the service girls go to work while you wait for the chicken bits to fry )
That said, you can be in Itaewon by bus or subway in 45 minutes, Sinchon in 60. Plenty of foreigners there. |

Seconded. Good drinks, good prices and good music. Add strippers and what more do you need? |

There are two Woodstocks in Gangnam, if you go out exit 6 and hit up the parallel street to the left of the exit, on the 2nd floor. Really crowded, cool but not great.
The other is out exit 7, on the other side of that large street (강남대로? I think) up the hill a bit, in the basement. This one is better. Sorry it's hard as MOD EDIT to give directions in a country that doesn't use addresses or street names. |

It's easy to give directions with websites such as.... wikimapia.org
Just add the place you're talking about to the map. Then post the link here. |

Woodstock is great on the weekdays, but I rarely go on weekends. |

Another one in favour of Woodstock on the weedays - good place to chill. As others have said though, Friday and Saturday nights it's a no-go-zone, absolutely terrible. |

i've been to the woodstock that's opposite rainbow, on the second floor, and frankly, it sucks. don't mean to sound elitist, but the crowd is kind of douchie. also, too many foreigners. i hate it when people say that, but i do like to have some koreans (preferably girls) floating around. fat chance in that place. what's the other one like? |

Rainbow Lounge, any of the bars along the strip running from NB off of Gangnam Station. |
