There have been a couple Inha University jobs on the boards in the last couple weeks...
Does anyone have any information about working for Inha University, or more specifically for the departments listed there?
Anyone have any information about those campuses, or the university facilities, or the area around the university?
Oh, and I mean Inha Technical College when I say Inha University.

What about housing? Anyone familiar with the 2-bedroom "guest houses" on campus? |

I once worked at INHA UNIV> for about a year, I was contract through an outside organization hat was run my a Korean mafia gangster type who never paid me or the Korean staff, and deducted pension from my first few months but never paid the pension office. And after a few years later I met the same man again who has a different company name who is trying to hire people under a different visa. |

Up until a couple of years ago it used to be a pretty sweet gig, then they cut the pay by a third and increased the contracted teaching hours by 50%.
Do they still have the 15-page online application (all in Korean) and myriad hoop-jumping exercises to accompany it? |

There is a difference between Inha Technical College and Inha University.
Inha U University Education (UE) Program (teaching the freshman) does not have a 15 page online application...the ad is up now and you simply have to mail in your application.
There have been no real changes in the hours or pay in the last few years.
The UE program also does not use recruiters for any of its programs. They hire from the existing staff to do summer work/camps.
Just to make things clear for those thinking of applying to Inha U's UE program or the Logistics job which I believe has the same contract as the UE teachers.
I can't say anything about Inha Technical College. |

Seoulfly,
Were you drunk when you typed that?
Scott, thanks for the update. To offer anyone further information, the Inha University Logistics job ad said salary PLUS accomodations, but for those that are curious, the accomodations are actually NOT included. I was very disappointed to find out in person that the ad was not correct. That was a big difference in money, that's for sure.
Anynag, you must mean the Inha Technical College job... it's go the huge online application... the funny thing is that the job is for 10 hours a week... I'm not sure how that could be a 50% increase...
Thanks, and further info would be interesting to read.
Cheers. |

Yes, Inha TC. The renewal contract they presented to me to sign two years ago stated 15 hours as base. However, the contract I had previously worked under stipulated 10 hours instruction plus five contact hours; typically, we taught 16 - 20 hours though.
As for the conditions and specifics of their contracts nowadays, I don't have a clue. And, as indicated by another poster, the English programs taught at Inha U were (and apparently still are) not related to those associated with Inha TC - completely separate entities academically and managerially as I recall. |
