Hello all.
I am looking to do something like this here in SK. Do these things exist?
I want to have as much as possible checked.
Like blood, organ condition, bone joints,
You know, hectic stuff.
I want to get an idea of how my body is doing.
Has anyone come across such a thing?
Where? Cost?
Thanks! |

my friend told me about some super thorough checkup like that she had done at the international clinic in itaewon awhile ago. I think she said it was $500. I'd call them and ask. |

Call 1339. This is the Korean Medical Center's hotline, and they have an English rep from what I hear. They exist to give tourists and residents medical info on what services are available.
Also, I just had a head to toe 'lab rat' type of physical at Jung-Ang Unversity Hospital. It was fantastic. I highly doubt the International Clinic in Itaewon could possible have all the equipment and materials that a big hospital has.
(If you are out of Seoul, I think you have to add the local area code before 1339). |

The Itaewon Clinic can do a full STD and other diseases run down and check up. They will test for a long list of diseases and some blood issues. It's not really a bull body work up like your asking about though. I'd go with what Jane said. I kind of want one of these too.
How much did it cost Jane? |

It was paid for by my company, so don't know about cost. But I'm telling you, they check EVERYTHING. At the end, you get at dossier with a full report on every possible result that is imaginable, and this is discussed at a follow up consultation where the doctor--nice guy who spoke English a week after the tests--gives you his recommendations for follow ups, if any.
I highly recommend everyone doing this once a year.
Here is a list of tests that I can remember:
eyes
pulmonary and cardio
lung capacity
chest x ray
teeth
blood test
urine test
gyno test (for ladies)
listening test
intestinal x rays and stomach test (this must be necessary seeing as stomach cancer is so high in Korea thanks to the kimchi)
Edit: Just found this: http://www.caumc.or.kr/eng/Healthcare/Contact_Us.asp?pageNum=5&subNum=5
Look at the 'one-stop total diagnosis servcie [sic]' |

Speaking of ghetto, I would skip the place in Itaewon and go to the foreigner's clinic at Yonsei Severance Hospital. That place is state of the art with all the equipment you would need for a test like that. The Itaewon place is a little crap hole in the wall.
I had an almost total medical test done at Severance, minus the bone check, and it was about 300,000 won. That was several blood tests, chest X-ray, vision test, ultrasound of my liver and kidneys, and a couple of other ones. All the doctors there have studied overseas, so their English is excellent. |

Asan Hospital. International Clinic
I told the doctor what tests I wanted and she was all for it. Not too expensive with insurance. |
