I never saw a girl smoking here in Korea in the mid-late 1990's. Now I see it quite often. A friend of mine told me he likes to see it cause it indicates the girl will be more likely to have sex ("show me a girl who smokes and I'll show you a girl who [Mod Edit]!," he likes to say).

Any truth to this? Anyone have any experience in this regard?

My guess is that they all smoked back then- just not in plain view. Every Korean chick I knew smoked in the girls bathroom back in the early 2000s, and I guess it was to avoid questions like the OP.

Chances are it's about as true as the similar statement, "Guys who smoke are more likely to have sex."

Some girls who smoke like to have sex. Some girls who don't smoke like to have sex. Some girls who smoke may like having sex, just not with you. Ditto for girls who don't smoke.

Anyway, perhaps you should do some informal research on this topic on your own. Be sure to report back a full analysis of your findings.

I think you guys all know what the OP means. Yes, it's true that women who smoke have a reputation for being rebellious, as "proper ladies" don't smoke according to Korean social mores. The theory is that this streak of rebellion also correlates with a rejection and rebellion against Korean sexual mores for women: that they should be pure and not have any sex drive. Because of this, Korean women who smoke have a high sex drive and are far more likely to act on it.

Or so the theory goes. It's full of logical fallacies, but it might still be true in spite of that. I don't know either way. Looks like you need to do a lot of research
