|
|
i know i'm not going to become an actually qualified teacher in the next couple of months. so, short of taking a TEFL course, what can i do to prepare for teaching in korea?
i'm thinking of observing local esl classes and studying a few books - is this close to sufficient?
can anyone recommend any books that might give me some kind of vague clue about how i'm going to deal with being thrown in at the deep end? |

Why not do a TEFL/TESL cert?
Anyhow, read, read, read. If you can do observations, do them I suppose, but without really knowing about what you are watching, it may be of limited benefit. |

i was considering doing a certTESOL, but its quite expensive and they don't do it in my city, which is a shame. i think that it might be a case of any experience is good experience? but i think the classes i'd be observing will be adult ones so it might not be that beneficial, like you say.
hmmm its frustrating because i can't really help myself. are online courses worth it? |

This is great leadership training great for classroom management.
Your local Community Centre has an ESL program for immigrants ask to volunteer and observe.
Contact your local highschool and ask to observe classes. You might not learn anything on ESL but you might pick up some tid bits on Classroom management
