I've heard the best way to find out what a prospective school is like is to get an e-mail address for a current teacher at the school. What is the best, most appropriate way to do this? |

Ask the boss. If he gives it to you then he isn't hiding that much. (make sure it is a foreigner you're chating with and not a k-flunkie). f he refuses or beats around the bush...move on to the next job. |

You could also easily call the school and ask.
Happy hunting!

Simply ask. As mentioned, if they say no, you know something is up.
Be warned though, don't believe all this US Vs Them. Don't expect to hear about the full story from any emails from the current teacher. I don't expect to ever work in a hakwon again, but my honesty with the new teacher came and bit me firmly on the arse.
With one month to go, my boss finally found someone interested. I was telling him all sorts of going ons like having to ask over and over for health insurance to be taken out (which I latter gave up on) and some other stuff.
Anyways, suddenly my boss started being oh so nice to me, and then 4 days before I was to fly off, she came into the office, screaming her head off.
Apparently the new guy pulled the pin and then she demanded to see the emails I was sending him. She then showed me the 3 way emails between him, my boss and the recruiter, the new guy taking some of what I said out of context, all very embarrassing and this resulted in no reference which caused some problems getting into EPIK.
Moral of the story, look after number 1 first and don't believe everything the teacher says to you, as in future, I certainly wouldn't. |
