I came across this video. Looking into it, it's a "sport" with somewhat of a following. It's generally a bunch of rednecks that take an anvil, fill up a cavity with some black powder, put another anvil on top, and light a fuse. The anvil on top goes flying. There's plenty of other videos on the same topic.

I must say, it does look like fun Laughing

I had the sound muted, so I'm not sure what was said, but I'll comment from a muzzleloading enthusiast's point of view.

It looked like he used an entire can of Goex black powder (1 pound). There are about 7,000 grains in a pound and a typical musket shoots about 45-90 grains per shot (so about 75-150 shots per pound). You can kind of see what kind of power comes behind all that conflagration.

This pumpkin shooter (and other videos shooting pumpkins) is a lot of fun.

it's actually a very old tradition and has it's roots in the Southern US. it's just now making a comeback.

The south gets a lot of grief but sometimes they are out ahead of the pack. Go anvil launching!

Is this the new mile-high club?
