I have an opportunity to do a temporary editing job for a university in Seoul. I know teaching privates is illegal. Is it illegal to do ANY other work besides working for the school you teach at? Is there a legal way of going about it, if I were to get my school to give me permission to do the editing? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Doing it legally is more trouble than it's worth. Just do it and don't mention it to any one.

If you want to do it legally, you need written permission from current employer, a signed contract from your new employer and a copy their business certificate, your passport and your alien card. Take it all down to an immi office, fill out the application, check the correct box ( I think its the 'addition or alteration of workplace' box), hand it to the attendant. They will review it and, if they approve it, you pay 60 000 won and they will make a notation on the back of your alien card. After all that, then you can work for a secondary employer.
