so TMI moment, I get recurring UTIs and need Bactrim or Ciproflaxin (or something similar). Are antibiotics available over the counter or do I have to go see a doctor for something so small? |

Not to preach, but you shouldn't self diagnose or medicate. Go to
a clinic, get checked out and get a prescription for medication. Takes
me all of 10 minutes and about 5000KRW. |

Uh..if you had read the post a key word may have gave some incredible insight.
Sounds like she isn't self-diagnosing but rather doesn't see the need to go to the clinic every single time the same problem arises. |

Uh..If you had a brain you would realize that very few medications
available in the west are available here. Moreover, the ingredients
and dosages will be written in Korean.
But, uh, being an ESL teacher in Korea I suppose would have this amazing
insight? |

To answer the question, no they aren't. You may be able to work out an arrangement for furthur medicine after your initial visit, but you will have to go at least once. |

They used to be; that was before the doctors and pharmacists had their big battle that eventually resulted in a separation of kingdoms--doctors diagnose/prescribe and pharmacists fill prescriptions. It used to be, when I had some bacterial malady, the doctor would just tell me to go to the pharmacy and get such-and-such antibiotic and take so much for so long. |
