"Article" here.
This seems crazy to me. Wax bottle candy, Necco waffers, fruit-flavored tootsie rolls, gum drops, and root beer barrels are all delicious.
These candies are Halloween traditions. This is like a war on Halloween. |

You have to admit, they hit the nail on the head with citrus peanuts. |

Come on though, those were the things you always had to sift through to get to the Snickers and Mars bars. The rest would sit in the bag in the kitchen somewhere at least until March or April. |

Well, that's true, but someone who shoots up a mall with an automatic weapon will probably hit a few genuinely bad people too. As soon as they condemned wax bottle candy, I knew that's the approach they were taking. |

What the heck is wax bottle candy? I've never tried that. I found a blog posts that suggests it is actually made out of wax. Good god! |

It is! Sooooo delicious. You don't eat the wax of course. It's a little wax bottle with colored liquid inside. You bite the top off the bottle, spit it out, and squeeze the liquid into your mouth. Then you chew on it a bit to get all the remaining liquid. Then you spit it out. |

Not if you're the kid who eats paste in the back of the classroom! |

I love circus peanuts and candy pumpkins. You can only eat a few at a time because they are so sweet, but I love them. |

Aw man, I loved fruity-flavoured tootsie rolls. And who doesn't like a gumdrop or two? Can't comment on the other stuff since I've never tried it. |

I think the fruit-flavored tootsie rolls taste better than the normal ones. |

They need to bring back candy cigarettes. I was lucky enough to get the tail end of that before the smokinistas got ahold of that.
Necco was alright. Or am I thinking Smarties? Root Beer barrels weren't bad either.
The worst was getting a dime. |

Candy cigarettes were incredible. They were genuinely delicious, and fun too. My only complaint with the candy cigarette was that it was almost impossible to resist just eating it long enough to actually treat it like what it was supposed to emulate.
Perhaps some day, in a more civilized and technologically advanced era, the candy cigarette can return, better than ever before.

Necco are like slightly chalkier flavored smarties. Personally I like that slightly chalky flavor though, it offsets the sweetness nicely.

Especially when that dime went into your UNICEF box instead of your candy bag, so you couldn't even take advantage of it.
I don't know why I find this article so offensive, but I really feel like they're pissing all over my childhood. Where is Bill O'Reilly on this one? He's really dropping the ball; if he can cry out against the War on Christmas, he should draw just as hard a line against the War on Halloween. |

The war against Halloween candy continues. How can there even be enough witches to "dedicate and pray over" all the candy that gets sold during Halloween? Do companies hire staff witches for seasonal work doing evil rituals next to the production lines? |
