|
|
Is it possible to find a short term job for just a few months in Korea from overseas (I'm in Canada). I have a job I love here, but I would like to come back to Korea for a little while and make some extra money. If it is possible to find a job like that, where and how would I look for it? I dont' see anything posted like that on any of the popular job boards. I was thinking of doing a Winter Camp, but the camp just happens to fall at the wrong time for me, and besides, it's only for a month.
Any suggestions? Thanks... |

| If you love your job here, but want to come for a visit, why not just do that? Take a vacation. How much time will you have to 'enjoy Korea' if you're working a dismal hakwon or camp schedule? |

| Well, I was also hoping to make some money. Trips to Korea are expensive, so I'd kind of like to have the trip pay for itself... and then some, you know? |

Yeah, but many want the same thing every time they go anywhere! Fact is, not too easy to do, and if it were, then many more would be doing it.
Make more where you are and enjoy your vacations. If you can't afford to save, invest, and take vacations, don't go on extended or expensive vacations. Makes sense. Cheers. |

| Thanks but... um, I'm a preschool teacher (who happens to have a B-Ed). Telling me to 'make more' is basically telling me to quit my job. And telling me not to take vacations is kind of not relevant. I want to visit Korea, that's true, but I'm wanting to work while I'm there. That's not a vacation. I want to keep my low paying job in Canada that gives me a lot of job satisfaction. I just also want to be able to travel a bit and make some extra money doing it. When I was in Korea I met people who had short term contracts -- one had a 3 month contract, I just don't know how they got them. Does anyone have any idea how to get these short term contracts? Where to look for them? |

Don't you hate it when you ask for information, and people who have nothing to contribute still feel the need to add some nonsense. The OP is asking for information on a subject that others might be interested in. If you have nothing positive to contribute, move on to the next thread.
Sheesh. |

Sorry, there, OP. No way I could have known your background. I didn't suggest not going on vacation, I suggested not going on an extended and expensive vacation! And I have more than a few teacher friends in N. America who make more by teaching summer school and by taking on extra responsibilities at their own school. Doesn't sound like those opportunities exist at the pre-school level, so just ignore that bit of input.
The market here is flooded now, and several people are having a time of it trying to get into a full-time position. You might be able to find a short-term camp position, but, then again, you'll have to deal with the visa issue. As one other poster suggested, there are some short-term positions that pay remarkably poorly and keep you in the boonies. Those are basically for people in the middle of a degree or with only a 2-year degree.
Your best bet for that would be to post your resume on a job board stating your intentions. Also, you're better served by scoping out the job boards closer to a term break when most of the camps are held. If you don't qualify for an F-series visa and you're not willing to work illegally, your options may be limited.
And I have to add that I think it's funny that Mithrae posted a non-informative statement about people posting non-informative statements. |
