"I ain't sayin' she a gold digga" *snap* "but she ain't messin wit no broke..."

Actually, in my experience over the years, the ones I have met were not for the most part. Or once they realized there was no gold to dig they decided not to rely on me for that. Usually their parents have paid for all their luxuries as it is. Heck, sometimes I was the one who scored luxuries without even requesting, expecting, or demanding them!

98% of those bags are imitation via popular spots like Nam/Dong Daemun.

I would say there are some gold diggers present especially around Gangnam and Apgujeong, who usually never give the waegook men a second look anyway. Other than that, I dont think its very common.

Korean woman are usually highly successful and educated and would tend to go after the same kind of gentics for thier children. Not saying white guys don't have this gene, but it is not as likely to occur in the generalized gene pool.

Maybe Apujeong has more to with your class status then gold-digging (
idk, but my ex did tell me once he hated Dongdaemun Market becasue it was dirty and low)

Gold-digging refers to a uneducated,lazy and low-class person.

A Golddigger is a woman who is with a man, or looking for a man for monetary reasons alone.

It has nothing to do with education, or class, etc. I would say a majority of them are middle-classed and educated. Maybe we have different interpretations of this term....

Certainly, because they sure start pushing them out after being forced from their "successful" careers at age 30! We dumbed down foreign men just can't keep up with these refined fashion design majors!

Idk, why someone would live with the parents untill the age of 30 , but

doesn't it have to do more the fact that it is really considered taboo and

unacceptable for a single woman to live by herself in Korea? ( there is a

hidden sexual conotation behind it). Shocked

or maybe it's monetary..who knows?

It would seem that you're trying to hijack your own thread. Laughing

In my experience Korean women are gold diggers if they are:

A) Above average looking +

B) From a rich family

Of course A and B are not mutually exclusive either.

A. because good looking Korean women know they will get the cream of the crop in terms of Korean men. Even if they don't land a Lee Byung Hyun they will have no problem marrying an uglier guy as long as his wallet is fat. Like hell she is going to cook/clean/rear children/cow tow to the MIL without some comfortable compensation (money to shop, go the spa, holidays etc). Her other option is to work in the "services" industry...ahem... to support her spending habits. That option doesn't sit too well for many and it can only be done for so many years.

B. because rich Korean women are going to have a lot of expectations placed on them to marry the "right guy" (read rich from a RICH family) for the family in order for them to spread their connections (which is pretty much everything here). Marrying a guy from a lower echelon of wealth no matter how good looking he is, isn't going to sit well with the parents. This could most likely apply to affluent families anywhere however.

The interesting and intelligent Korean women that I've met over the years have mostly been below to average looking and not exactly well off or even a little financially hard done by. THey are the coolest in my books and make the most awesome girlfriends/partners.

Yes,it applies to rich families everywhere.

I am wondering if the same thing applies to Korean families in the USA as

girls here tend to be pretty modernized in terms of doing just what ever

thier familes want.

But, it also depends alot on thier family name. I do think that all Korean

people ( regardless of where they are) want to marry other Koreans.

( anything else would have to be the exception to the norm). Is this

thinking correct?

The better class of gold diggers know they are gold diggers and will leave you out of their game. They know it's shallow, and will use you for other purposes. Yeah! Cool

Good quote. I generally have found this to be a universal rule, relevant not just in Korea.
