I've just arrived in seoul a couple of days ago, and currrently staying in a gosiwon near korea university. I get a little room with private shower/toilet, which is standard here. The problem is that it gets very very noisy whenever the next door neighbors are using the shower between 11-12 at night and 7-8 in the morning. One of the neighbors usually gets home late and talks during the middle of the night.

I'm thinking of moving to another gosiwon, but arent they all pretty much the same? Will hasuk be any better?

Since I don't have any concret plan to stay longer than 2-3 months, is there any other housing option I can consider? Any nice landlord that would let for a shorter period?

Not a happy bunny as am not getting enough sleep Mad

first you might ask the mgr if there's another room that's quieter - there are often other more desirable rooms, but they tend to be rented faster.

then yes, look for another goshiwon and check the space around the room for such kinds of noises. I've stayed in several, never near the kitchen or bathroom, which are high traffic areas. look for down a hall away from everything.

good luck, totally get the noise thing.. Shocked

I would just ask for a quieter room or tell the owner that the neighbors are being loud.

If money isn't an issue, you could probably find a room to rent on craigslist

How are those? Are they clean or kind of dirty?

yeah the problem is, every room is equipped with a shower/toilet. So literally, I have a shower room on each side of my room (of my neighbors)! This is crazy..

I agree with the others in that you should look for a quieter room somewhere.

I'm at a goshiwon right now and it's extremely quiet here. I never hear a peep from my neighbors. I see them more than I hear them. Everyone has a shower but they never wake me up ::shrugs::

I looked at two before staying at this one. The other one I looked at was pretty dirty and depressing. Oldish building, very dark and grimy. Even the residents looked depressed and cold as ice. This one was pretty clean and shiny with lighting. It has its issues, but it's a good enough place to stay short term.
