I'm about to buy one or the other. Over the span of my 2-year contract, I'd pay about 200 dollars more for the newer Amoled.

I want a phone that can play video and has good battery life.

Does anyone know the main differences? The most important thing is that I get a phone with plenty of English in it. I bought the LG Cyon Arena phone that looks nice and sleek, but barely has English in it as far as messaging goes and is impossible for me to add mp3s and videos on it.

Ideally, I can just click and drag files from my cpu to the phone...

Any help is appreciated!

I believe the AMOLED is a newer version of the Haptic. Besides the obvious Amoled screen, it has a new OS and some extra bells and whistles.

In my opinion, its not worth the 200,000w+ over the haptic. I remember reading that AMOLED screens are a harder to see in direct sunlight.

I had a Haptic 2 and boy talk about a waste of money. You don't use any of the applications except like the subway map, DMB, alarm clock...it costs around 900K KRW for a phone that does the same thing as the free or 60K KRW phones do. You're basically paying for the Haptic touch OS. I traded mine in for a cheapo 80K won phone that i'm using until the iPhone 3GS comes out in November/December.

I ended up getting the Amoled. I LOVE IT!

I had the LG Cyon/Arena that was a nice phone, but all the cool features seemed to be in Korean only. The Amoled has English for 90% of its applications. My only beef is that the e-mail setup is in Korean.

With a 2-year contract, my phone works out to about $250-300 payable monthly for 2 years.

Wait for the Omnia "Show".

Quote:
SEOUL, Korea (AVING) Samsung Electronics held Anycall OMNIA Media Day to unveil five new smart phones OMNIA Family, which will be launched in Korea market in the end of the year.

In particular, Show OMNIA(model: M8400) with a 3.7-inch AMOLED WVGA display features Triple Mode supporting 3G W-CDMA, Wi-Fi and WiBro. Adopting next-generation Haptic UI 2.0, the Show OMNIA offers rich multimedia functions such as video recording/playback, DMB, DivX and more.

Other features included a 5M digital camera with dual power LED flash, 800MHz CPU, high-capacity built-in memory(2GB or 8GB), GPS, Bluetooth connectivity and more. It will be available in Korea market through KT.

No mention of an American or European release quite yet though.
