I need to buy a laptop but I want at least a 13.3 screen. All I need to do is use microsoft word and surf the internet. I don't need anything high powered. The less expensive the better. Any ideas? I've looked at Dell korea and there prices are pretty high for what i'm looking for.

This is the cheapest notebook I could find on Gmarket. I didn't try super hard though, there might be cheaper.

It's an HP NX9040 for 370'000원. 15.1 inch screen.

hmm, thanks for trying. 2.9kgs is like 7 pounds? I guess the key thing is lightweight wihout a scree the size of an ipod touch.

That one is pretty big to lug around.

I just went into hi mart and they showed me the samsung x420. any thoughts? the price was 1.2. Which is pretty high. For that amount of money any suggestions on an alternative with similar weight and 14 screen?

13 inchers are expensive. If you want that size you might as well be done with it and just buy a 13inch mac book pro.

I always recommend netbooks in this situation. But, I guess you don't want one of those. If you look into them, they are all pretty much the same. Just buy the second cheapest one.

go to electronics land in yongsan and check out fujitsu notebooks.. they should have some older models which you can easily add an extra gig of ram.. prices should be reasonable..

You could probably get something used with better specs for half the price.

Asus has a good lineup of 13.3. Don't know how cheap they would be in Korea though.

nothing is particularly wrong with a mac, but if you actually care about value then macs don't even enter the question.

does dell or ibm ship to korea? if so you could get yourself a nice little machine for under a million won.

You should also check out averatecs or TG in Korea. They're not particularly high quality, but they tend to be fairly cheap here. I wouldn't recommend trying to navigate their korean site though.

Yeah and IEEE1394. I had to look it up to find out what it was. But, it burns CDs and DVDs and has 1440x1050 resolution... I wonder if the design has some specific purpose.

It's designed for Dr.Who to interact with his TARDIS when he travels to the 90's.

If you're going for pure cheap, look for something w/o Windows, just get a machine and install Linux/ Unix, that can shave off $100 ...

I don't know about the availability in Korea but info

If you're going 13 inch, like someone else said, get a macbook. It'll outlast 3 PC laptops easy, run faster, and just generally feel better.
