I have searched this site and the internet, but I can't find a lot on a certain recruiter called ESL Park, specifically a woman who works for them named Asia Sohn. I found them on CareerBuilder.com. I've had a lot of contact with Asia and she seems competent, honest, and ardently looking for a job for me. Everything she's told me lines up with the other research I've done and the sample contract she sent me was very similar to ones I've looked at in this forum.
I was just wondering if anyone on here has gone to South Korea with her, or used ESL Park to get a job. I'm 23 but my parents want a little more reassurance that I'm not going to end up like that girl from Taken.

Look, if you want to find the best possible job for you, and not end up like the Taken girl, the DONT use a recruiter.
They are a slimy bunch that makes $1000 for every teacher they sign up.
Do the research and find your own job by contacting the schools directly. That is the best way.
A recruiter does not have your best interests in mind. |

| All a recruiter does is connect you with contracts. There is exactly nothing to lose by using as many recruiters as you possibly can. |

Thanks for the advice, but my question still isn't being answered. I know exactly what recruiters do, but as far as I can tell, not all are bad. I'm trying to verify that with this one. I've already sent them all my documents and she offered me a job almost immediately, but I can't leave until January.
I don't mind using a recruiter, like I said she's been very helpful, answered all of my questions honestly as far as I can tell, and she knows more about the process than I do. I just want to talk to someone who has used them before.
Or if anyone knows what a Korea Recruiting Licence Number is and how I can use it to check out ESL Park, that would be good too.

Wouldn't you rather have the $1000 in your pocket instead of going to the recruiter? |

You made your first mistake my sending them all your documents before signing a contract. Did the recruiter tell you to do this?
If yes, then, I would be less inclined to trust them.
And as to the sample contract she showed you. Then, I'm sure it looked really good but hold off in judgement until you see a real school's contract in front of you. |

How do you know she is being honest with you? Because she sounds "nice"? Have you talked directly with the school? And because you are asking for a License Number shows that you don't know what recruiters do. What the hell is a License Number going to tell you? That the recruiter is "nice"? A license number doesn't mean sh_t.
The process for working in Korea is not complicated. Email/phone a school. Have interview. Get hired. They do the rest.
Don't be lazy. If you don't put in the time to find a good job and rely on someone else to do it for you, you will almost certainly be disappointed when you arrive in Korea. But I guess you can always blame her for your crappy year in Korea. |

She was in contact with me for a while too, and she set up an interview with the school.
The interview went well and I was offered the position, but I ended up declining.
After that, Asa didn't contact me for several weeks. Now she is calling/emailing me again...
I can't say for sure if this recruiter is legit or not, but I did speak with a school and was offered a job.... |

ESL Park is a legit company. I actually came to Korea through ESL Park. My recruiter is no longer with the company, but he was great! We still keep in touch. The process was very quick. I applied in November and I was in Korea in the middle of December. They found me 2 jobs. I started at one but I didn't like it so I gave my notice and ESL park found a new job.
My old recruiter found me the job I have now, but I did have some contact with Asia during the process. (I actually know her personally). Everything went smoothly.
Asia was one of my co-workers recruiters . |

Youtuber needs to get the facts straight. The recruiting fee goes to the recruiter. If the teacher finds a job directly through the school, that doesn't mean the school is going to fork over the $1000 to the teacher. That just means the school didn't have to pay an extra $1000 recruiting fee. You mentioned this in another thread also and I still don't know what you think this has to do with anything. $1000 is not going to end up in someone's pocket because they choose not to go through a recruiter. |

Hi I just wanted to say I am also using Asia. I have not gotten as far as the OP but I have sent stuff for my visa.
I did scour the internet for any info on either her or ESL Park but found very little. Every bit I did find though was people who highly praised the company and Asia in particular.
If any one does have any good or bad info please let us know. Also if you get any info OP please update here and I will do the same. |
