|
|
| Does anyone happen to know if subbing for native speakers is legal? I'm here on a legal visa with my husband's work. I used to teach here (1996-2000) and would like to offer to sub for people (for emergencies, tag on days to holidays and the like) but I was wondering about the legalities of it. Any thoughts? |

You probably have an F-1 or F-3 visa. If so, no work. Without an F-2/4/5, legally subbing is very difficult. If you sub without the correct visa and get caught, you husband (as your visa sponsor) can be held accountable. |

| No, not F1/F3. I was told I could work on my visa, but I don't want to work full time, or sign a contract. |

| If you were told, then do it. Just be sure the person who told you knows what they are talking about. Perhaps call immigration and ask them? Without knowing what visa you have, there is not much more to say. |

| That brings me back to my original question. Is substitute teaching legal for anyone? Maybe I'm allowed to work, but not freelance? I suppose I'll have to call immigration, but thought I'd check here first. Korea is so very different than when I left in early 2000--that includes all the visa regulations. |

You can sub with an F-2/F-4/F-5 quite easily. |
